Welcome to Design Tech
Welcome to Design Tech class. In this class students begin to learn how engineers and designers go about solving problems and creating new products. Just like in real engineering and design settings students will sometimes work in teams. During this marking period we will follow a complete Design Cycle process to investigate, design, construct and test (evaluate) a model truss bridge. Teams will be working to build the most efficient bridge (the one that holds the greatest number of times its own weight). Students will occasionally move from team to team during the course to provide opportunities for lively and productive engagement.
Please be sure to review and sign the Course Information letter (our first homework assignment). Students will also need a 1 inch thick 3-ring binder for Design Tech and a standard #2 wooden pencil. Please equip your child for success. Students may keep their binder (with pencil) in the classroom for convenience but should expect and plan to use it for homework and design folder work. It is recommended that parents review their child's binder and assignments on a regular basis.
